The contraband was reportedly imported from Afghanistan and were being imported under the guise of talcum powder. The exporting firm has been identified as Hassan Hussain Ltd., based in Kandahar, Afghanistan. The operation of DRI and Customs has been going on for the past five days.

Ahmedabad (Gujarat): The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have reportedly seized containers with heroin worth an estimated Rs9,000 crore from Mundra Port in Gujarat’s Kutch, according to sources. The contraband was reportedly imported from Afghanistan. During the search, they discovered that drugs worth crores were being imported under the guise of talcum powder.

The containers were allegedly imported from Afghanistan to Mundra Port by Ashi Trading Firm that is based in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada.

The firm had reportedly declared the consignment as “talcum powder”. The exporting firm has been identified as Hassan Hussain Ltd., based in Kandahar, Afghanistan. The operation of DRI and Customs has been going on for the past five days.

Earlier on September 19, Anti-Terrorist Squad in a joint operation with Coast Guard have apprehended an Iranian boat with seven crew members and a huge consignment of heroin on the Indian waters off the Gujarat coast.

The seized boat carried an estimated 30 to 50 kg of the contraband, worth about Rs150 to 250 crore in the international markets.
