The Tripura government has issued an order directing recovery of excess salary paid to State Chief Information Officer and Former Director-General of Tripura AK Shukla since July 13 last year.

Agartala: The Tripura government has issued an order directing recovery of excess salary paid to State Chief Information Officer (SCIC) and Former Director-General of Police, Tripura AK Shukla since July 13 last year. It was found that special allowances exclusively reserved for in-service officers were being paid to Shukla, an official notification issued by Deputy Secretary M Rema revealed.

The official notification also clarified that the excess amount would be retrieved. Official data revealed that Shukla was entitled to get Rs 1,31,625 per month instead of Rs 2,33,125. He was being paid an excess amount of Rs 1,01,625.

The notification read, "Shri A.K.Shukla , state chief information commissioner (SCIC), is eligible to get paid Rs 2,25,000.00 plus 17% DA (Rs 19,125.00) minus pension of Rs 1,12,500.00, that is , a total amount of Rs 1,31,625.00".

The extra allowances that were being paid to Shukla were SDA of Rs 22,500, SA of Rs 34,000 and SUMP allowance worth Rs 45,000. Sources said an in-service officer is only entitled to get these allowances.
