TMC leader Kunal Ghosh falls ill during police questioning, admitted to hospital

Trinamool Congress National Spokesperson Kunal Ghosh on Tuesday fell ill all of a sudden while being questioned by a Tripura police at the New Capital Complex police station here in Agartala. He has been shifted to ILS hospital Agartala for treatment.

Agartala: Trinamool Congress National Spokesperson Kunal Ghosh on Tuesday fell ill all of a sudden while being questioned by a Tripura police at the New Capital Complex police station here in Agartala. He has been shifted to ILS hospital Agartala for treatment.

Kunal Ghosh was asked to appear before the police in connection with a case lodged with the Khowai police station. The Khowai police served notices to six TMC leaders and Ghosh is one of them. He reached Agartala on Monday night to cooperate in the legal proceedings initiated against him. Accordingly, he was asked to appear in the New Capital Complex police station instead of going to Khowai considering the long route. Ghosh did appear before the police at the NCC police station but soon after the police team began to ask him questions, he started to feel unwell.

According to the police, he had some health complications like low sugar levels and BP. "Both the sugar and blood pressure suddenly fell down which led to his illness", said police. He was later moved to the nearby ILS hospital for treatment. Some tests like MRI and CT scan was also done. Until the last report, he was still in the hospital.

Altogether six TMC leaders including Kunal Ghosh and Abhishek Banerjee were booked for preventing police from discharging official duty. The cases were lodged after the Trinamool leaders literally staged a protest inside the Khowai police station for hours seeking justice for sixteen TMC activists who were arrested by police during the second visit of Abhishek Banerjee.
