Cuttack (Odisha): More than a dozen stray dogs were poisoned to death by an eatery owner in Sankarpur area of Odisha's Cuttack on Wednesday. According to reports, the street food vendor had allegedly poisoned the canines to death for reasons unknown.

Local police have registered a case in this connection and have booked the eatery owner under the 'Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act'. So far, the carcass of 10 stray dogs has been recovered. An investigation has been launched into the incident.

While the poisoning of 12 dogs has been confirmed so far, an animal rights forum has stated that the number could be more. The carcass of the dead dogs has been sent for autopsy while the sick ones were shifted to Bhubaneswar by the animal rights group for treatment.
