Chattisgarh: DEO lambasts MA teacher for failing to write a Hindi word

A viral videoclip of the DEO Rakesh Pandey inspecting 'Mohalla Classes' which has been launched for those children who are unable to attend online classes in Chhattisgarh has surfaced. A school teacher of a government primary school, an MA in Hindi, who failed to write a simple word, had to face the ire of the District Education Officer.

Kawardha (Chhattisgarh): A school teacher of a government primary school, an MA in Hindi, who failed to write a word, had to face the ire of the District Education Officer in Chhattisgarh's Kawardha district. A viral videoclip of the DEO Rakesh Pandey inspecting 'Mohalla Classes' which has been launched for those children who are unable to attend online classes has surfaced. In the video, it can be seen that the DEO is asking the teacher to write the word 'अंत्येष्टि' (Antyeshti) which roughly translates to 'Funeral' in English. However, despite several attempts the teacher fails to write the word correctly on a piece of paper that was provided to him.

The incident took place at a village in Lohara block of Kawardha, which is around 100km from Raipur. The DEO on having interacted further with the students was shocked to notice that the students studying in Class 4 were not able to even read Hindi textbooks of lower grades. The DEO had arrived in the school on a surprise inspection. Having witnessed the pathetic state of an MA Hindi graduated teacher unable to write a word in the language, the DEO said that it feels disheartening to see the kids receiving poor quality education.

The highest education official of the district added that there are lot of shortcomings in the education system which needs to be addressed and rectified, also there must be a proper teaching plan that needs to be chalked out. DEO Pandey said that he would soon visit five school on a monthly basis and that he would monitor the progress personally. It may be noted that the schools in Chhattisgarh had reopened on August 2nd following the closure due to Coronavirus. At present, even parents are also worried about the future of their children.
