India has sustained the trend of a steady decline of COVID-19 active cases which remained below nine lakhs for the fourth consecutive day, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) informed on Monday. Meanwhile, Delhi authorities have stopped putting notices outside the homes of people infected with coronavirus because this has amplified the social stigma associated with the disease and in turn caused others to hide their illness. Kerala opens tourist destinations in phased manner for domestic visitors.

Hyderabad: India's total recovered cases stand at 61,49,535. The difference between active cases & recovered cases is consistently increasing and stands at 52,87,682 today. India sustains trend of steadily declining active cases, active caseload only 12.10% of total positive cases, active caseload below 9 lakhs for the 4th consecutive day.

Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi authorities have stopped putting notices outside the homes of people infected with coronavirus because this has amplified the social stigma associated with the disease and in turn caused others to hide their illness, officials said on Monday.

Early on during the outbreak in the Indian capital, officials would paste a poster on the homes of people in quarantine after they had tested positive for the virus to make sure everyone in the neighbourhood was careful. It also deterred people from violating the quarantine.

Maharashtra

Mumbai: Overall coronavirus cases in Maharashtra - the country's worst-hit state where more than 15.2 lakh people have contracted COVID-19 till now - appear to be reducing, shows Maharashtra Health Ministry data.

Stating that coronavirus was spreading in Maharashtra's rural areas as well, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray recently warned that if people did not exercise caution Covid cases might go up indicating that he would have no option but to resort to another lockdown.

In a bid to contain the spread of Covid-19 ahead of the festive season, the Mumbai civic body on Monday launched a mass drive against those not wearing face masks and said it will penalise nearly 20,000 such citizens every day. The drive will continue for at least a month, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal said, adding that he will himself monitor the situation every day.

97 police personnel tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking total cases to 25,079 in the force, including 2,205 active cases, 22,614 recoveries, and 260 deaths till date: Maharashtra Police

West Bengal

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who was speaking after a cabinet meeting, said: "I ask everybody to follow the COVID-19 safety protocols during the festive season. There are instance of community transmission of COVID-19 and also the contagion becoming airborne."

Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur on Monday went into home isolation after he was tested positive for coronavirus infection.

Uttar Pradesh

Ghaziabad: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP leader Kalyan Singh has been discharged from a Ghaziabad hospital after recovering from coronavirus, an official said on Monday. Kalyan Singh was admitted to Ghaziabad's Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital on September 16 after he tested positive for the infection.

Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran said, "Selected tourist destinations will be open in the state phase wise with adherence to COVID19 guidelines. Houseboats & other tourist boats are allowed to operate. Beaches will be accessible to the public from November 1."

Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Assembly Speaker Sarat Kumar Kar passes away at 81. He was admitted at a private hospital after being tested positive for COVID19.
