Six international companies to invest in aviation sector at Telangana

With six new aviation companies proposing their investment in Telangana, the state government is preparing to turn the state into a full-fledged aircraft manufacturing hub.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is preparing to turn Telangana into a full-fledged aircraft manufacturing hub. At present, wings and other parts are being manufactured in Telangana. An Aircraft engine manufacturing group is planned to be set up here so that the full-scale aircraft design can be built here.

Apart from the American company GE Aviation, the French airline Safran has already established engine manufacturing industries in Telangana. Now, six new international companies are also interested in setting up these industries in Telangana.

Telangana is already a hub for aviation and defence products. Tata Advanced Systems Limited, Lockheed Martin, Boeing‌, Collins‌, UTC Boeing, Sikorsky Aircraft, Adani, Kalyani and 25 other companies manufacture conventional aircraft, F16 fighter wings, Apache helicopter spare parts, drone manufacturing, C - 130J Super Hercules Airlifter, S-92 helicopters.

Now the Telangana government is discussing with several airlines to turn the state into a full-fledged aircraft and helicopter manufacturing hub by promoting the manufacture of engines. Among the six new companies, two companies have already sent their proposals to the government and four companies are also coming up with their proposals soon. With these investments of Rs 5,000 crores, it will, in turn, generate employment for 3,000 people in the next four years.

GE Aviation‌ and Safran's company based in Adibhatla and Shamshabad with Rs 290 crores provide employment for 1,000 people.

Full-scale aircraft production in Aviation economic zones and two new parks in the state are being set up. Government hopes that the formation of Aero Engines Clusters in Telangana will give further impetus to the sector. For this, the government is considering Adibhatla, Eliminadu and other areas. The state government will allow the establishment of training, research and development centres.

The Hyderabad Research and Innovation Council (RIC) will promote initiatives in the aviation and defence sectors. Telangana is already making progress in aerospace parts as well as maintenance, repair and overhauling. Government sources said, "full-scale aircraft production would take place here soon."
