Muzaffarpur: People of a village in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district have been rejoicing that a youth Rakesh Kumar got a government job—the first person from this village to get a government job since Independence.
Kumar who was successful in getting a job as teacher in a government school has not only made the 2000 villagers of Sohagpur proud but he had inspired the youths that government job is no more a distant dream for them. Kumar's appointment had also broken the jinx of the village's tag of "zero government job".
The entire village felt it like a record of sorts when the news of Rakesh Kumar's appointment trickled out. Villagers were glad that they now hope the other youths from the hamlet will follow Kumar's footsteps and bring more laurels to their village.

Rakesh received the appointment letter on September 8 and will join as a primary school teacher at Barkurwa in the district soon. Recalling his path to a government job, Rakesh said he was giving tuition classes which helped him handle his education expense and had now become a full-time government school teacher.
"After the demise of my father, I was providing tuition to others to support my education. I earned my masters in Commerce and have also earned a B Ed degree. I began preparing for the Bihar Teachers Eligibility Test. I cleared the exam and was appointed as a teacher at a government school," Rakesh said.
"For the first time after independence, the village has been blessed with a government job with the appointment of Rakesh Kumar. The village's population is around 2000. Literacy rate in our village is less than 60 percent. Rakesh will serve as an inspiration for other youth in the village and am sure he will be a guide to the future of our young generation," Sanjeet Kumar Choudhary, a villager said.
