Due to unemployment, starvation, Phd degree holder Bengal woman applies for euthanasia with family
Barasat, 17 August :She had an Phd Degree in Music. Her research subject is Nature and human Mind in Rabindranath Tagore songs. But she did not have a job. She stays with parents who are in their 80S. Due to unemployment Durgapur Woman Gargi Bandyopadhyay applied for euthanasia with whole family.
Gargi was born in Durgapur. Her father Kamal Bandyopadhyay was a steel plant manager, mother was a primary school teacher. After retirement Kamal Babu shifted to Barasat from Durgapur.
Gargi and her sister Kasturi got married. Gargi had a divorce then. Savings were very few. Gargi wants a job after divorce. She wants help from counsillors. But did not get any job though she had a phd Degree. They are in starvation for many days.
One day, local resident Shyamal Sarkar have seen Kamal Babu wants 10 rupees from a child. Kamal Babu has a pacemaker. His wife, Gargi's mother is a kidney patient. They only have the small flat near Barasat Satya Bharati School. They dont have money to buy medicines or food. Due to starvation, they are becoming very week and feeble.
Gargi's euthanasia application is referred to Barasat Municipality Chairman Sunil Mukherjee via District Magistrate Chaitali Chakraborty . Sunil Babu has said, old couple may get allowance. We will see the matter.
