Watch: Elephant operates tube well to quench its thirst
Manyam (Andhra Pradesh): A video of an elephant drinking water from a tube well went viral on social media. The elephant was seen quenching its thirst from a tube well. The surprising incident took place at Vannam village in Komarada mandal of Parvathipuram Manyam district of Andhra Pradesh.
In the video, the elephant was seen using its trunk to hit the hand pump handle and drink water. The locals recorded the incident and posted it on social media. The video is making rounds on social media. According to sources, a herd of eight elephants entered the area less than four years ago. Since then they have been roaming in Komarada mandal. Hari, the elephant in the herd, quenched its thirst by using the hand pump.

Earlier, an elephant rescued its companion, which was stuck in a puddle in the Hasanur forest in Tamil Nadu's Erode. The elephants came to drink water from the Arepalayam pond in the Hasanur forest. When they went to quench their thirst, one of the jumbos got stuck in the puddle. The other elephant recognised the distress of their companion and offered a helping trunk.
