Cloudburst in Uttarakhand's Chamoli, no casualties reported

The cloudburst occurred at 5.30 in the morning, relief work is going on. The temporary shelters of many Border Road Organisation labourers have been damaged. Many vehicles were also destroyed that came under the debris.

Chamoli (Uttarakhand): A cloudburst in the Pangti village of Narayanbagad block in Uttarakhand's Chamoli left major destruction in the village with several houses being buried under the debris.

The cloudburst occurred at 5.30 in the morning. The temporary shelters of many Border Road Organisation( BRO) labourers have been damaged. Many vehicles were also destroyed under the debris.

The police and administration team reached the spot and started relief work as soon as they received the information about the incident. However, no casualties have been reported.

Due to the incessant rains, there are frequent landslides on many connectivity routes. A few days ago, a cloudburst near Sirobgad in Srinagar Garhwal wreaked havoc in the area.

Earlier in August, two people were killed and five buried under debris due to a landslide near Jumma village of Pithoragarh district.

In February, the state witnessed a massive glacial crash in the Tapovan-Reni area of Chamoli district.

In 2013, a multi-day cloudburst centred on Uttarakhand caused devastating floods and landslides killing more than 1000 people.

Flash flood came down upon the overflowing banks of the Chorabari lake destroying numerous houses and everything else that came it's way. The incident left behind a huge trail of destruction.
