Uttar Pradesh: Gang-rape victim accuses rape by cop

A woman, who was allegedly gang-raped by five men, claimed that she was raped again by a police sub-inspector when she went to a police station to file a complaint in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanapur.

Shahjahanpur (Uttar Pradesh): An alleged gangrape victim in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur has accused a police sub-inspector of raping her on Friday when she had gone to the police station to get her complaint lodged.

According to sources, the 35-year-old woman, a resident of a village under the Jalalabad police station area on Thursday complained that she was allegedly gang-raped by five men on November 30.

She claimed that while she was on her way to Madanpur on foot, five men came in a car, forcibly dragged her to a nearby field and taking turns raped her.

Meanwhile, she alleged that when she went to the Jalalabad police station, a sub-inspector present there took her to his room and raped her.

In this regard, Additional Superintendent of Police, Sanjay Kumar, said he has been asked to probe the matter and an FIR will be lodged if the charges levelled by the woman are found to be true.

Reportedly, ADG, Bareilly Avinash Chandra has ordered an inquiry on the complaint of the woman.
