Coronavirus: Tribals in Jabalpur consume mahua to boost immunity

To protect themselves from coronavirus, tribals in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur are consuming mahua fruit. Doctors of the AYUSH department in Jabalpur also says that eating the fruit of mahua increases the immunity of the person.

Jabalpur: The tribal region in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur has remained relatively untouched by the Covid-19 pandemic. In most areas of the state, the tribal people are said to be increasing their immunity by consuming the fruit of mahua to protect themselves from coronavirus.

In inhabitants of tribal-dominated villages around Jabalpur, wake up early in the morning and consume mahua fruit. The tribals believe that eating mahua increases immunity due to which we can easily protect ourselves from corona.

According to villagers, mahua has medicinal properties that help in keeping the body healthy. The tribals believe that consuming mahua with curd keeps diseases like cough, cold and fever at bay. While it also keeps the body fresh, vibrant, and energised.

Divisional doctor of AYUSH department in Jabalpur, GD Dwivedi says that eating the fruit of mahua increases the immunity of the body. If every person boiled mahua and consume the water daily, it cures the swelling of the respiratory tract completely. Due to which it is a beneficial fruit for the patients having respiratory problems.

He said that Mahua is rich in calcium, phosphorus, and fat. Due to which eating it eliminates health problems. This is the reason why this medicine is being helpful in the tribal areas today to fight the coronavirus.
