Over 300 kg of cannabis seized in Trivandrum, 2 held

Two men have been held by the Excise Department officials in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram for trying to smuggle over 300 kg of cannabis worth Rs 1.5 crore. They were smuggling the cannabis in a truck carrying disposable plates and cups.

Thiruvananthapuram: Excise Department officials on Saturday arrested two people and seized more than 300 kg of cannabis worth Rs 1.5 crore from their possession.

The two men were trying to smuggle cannabis from Andhra Pradesh to Thiruvananthapuram.

The accused have been identified as Banash (27) from Thodupuzha, Idukki and Ajnas (27) from Areekode, Malappuram.

The cannabis was stored in a truck carrying disposable plates and cups.

With this, the Excise Department has seized nearly 650 kg of cannabis within a month.

A case has been registered and further investigation into the matter is underway.
