New Delhi: Expressing regret over decisions of various state governments banning the use of firecrackers on Diwali, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has said the Hindus should be allowed to celebrate their festivals with due exuberance and happiness.
In a video message to ETV Bharat here, VHP spokesperson Vinod Bansal said that there are certain organizations and people who, it seems, don't want Hindus to celebrate their festivals like people of other religions would do without any problem.
"This selective secularism would not be accepted and Hindus should be allowed to celebrate their festivals without any restrictions," he said, adding that pollution watch dogs would always create a problem on the issue of fire crackers around Diwali every year but they don't see how roads are littered with meat and skins and water is polluted with the blood of animals on Eid al-Adha.

"I have data showing how polluted the air in and around Delhi has been at various points of time. At times it's worse than Diwali," he said, demanding that the ban on firecracker burning on the festival of lights must be lifted.
Delhi Government, in view of increasing air pollution, has banned the use of firecrackers. For the past few years, various state governments and the government at the centre either put restrictions on burning of firecrackers or ask people to use the same in a regulated manner.
