New Delhi: Chief Justice of India SA Bobde on Saturday launched a book named "Judiciary, Judges and the Administration of Justice" authored by former Supreme Court and Madras High Court Judge, Justice (Retd.) R Banumathi.
The book launch event saw Chief Justice of India SA Bobde delivering the Presidential address. Praising her for wealth of experience, SA Bobde said that she learnt something new at every stage due to her diverse experience in various courts. Talking about the book, CJI said that freedom of speech of the judges is curtailed by the same laws that uphold the freedom of others who use it to criticise the judiciary or the judges.
Justice DY Chandrachud recalled how Justice Bhanumathi would always be lost in her thoughts even during lunch about the cases, whereas other judges would talk on a different topic to get their minds off. He also cited one of the lines from the book which says that "a Judge remains a judge for 365 days and 24/7 during their tenure."

Justice Bhanumathi has also written about the accomplishments of the e courts and has highlighted various essential facets of judgeship, Justice DY Chandrachud said.
Justice Bhanumathi, whose journey has spanned from a District Judge to the Supreme Court judge, retired on 19th July this year. She has led the bench in various prominent cases like Nirbhaya rape case, INX Media case, Swami Chinmayanand rape case among others.
