Manchester: Indian backup wicket-keeper and middle-order batsman Dinesh Karthik was seen chatting with BCCI selection committee head MSK Prasad before the high voltage encounter between India and Pakistan here at Old Trafford.
India's last match against New Zealand was abandoned due to rain thus the team management could not really address the solution for the problem created after the injury of opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan.
KL Rahul played at number four for first two matches in 2019 WC but now after the injury to Dhawan KL Rahul who was originally picked as a backup opener will have to open the innings with Rohit Sharma. Which left Indian team management with a problem which is haunting them for the last few years.
Once again the number four position in Team India is vacant and Karthik who is a middle-order batsman is expected to play at number four. But earlier MSK Prasad at the time of announcing the Indian team said that Vijay Shankar will play at number four.
But after this chat between DK and MSK, one can expect Karthik in the playing 11 against Pakistan.
