With Khufiya, Bhardwaj is trying to create an edgy espionage film that contrasts the slow burn of intelligence and surveillance work with one's deep-rooted emotional conflicts.

Hyderabad: The teaser of Khufiya promises edgy espionage by filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj. The spy-thriller for streaming giant Netflix features Bharadwaj's frequent collaborator Tabu, Ali Fazal, Ashish Vidyarthi and Wamiqa Gabbi in lead roles.

Khufiya is inspired by true events and based on an espionage novel Escape to Nowhere by Amar Bhushan. Khufiya teaser features only Ali Fazal and as it is meant to be, doesn't give out much except the traitor aspect. Towards the end of Khufiya teaser, Tabu's dialogue, "He's not just traitor to me, but to the whole country," hints at the emotional conflicts that she would face while portraying R&AW operative.
