The legendary actor Dilip Kumar was laid to rest with full state honours in Mumbai in presence of his wife Saira Banu and close family.

Hyderabad: Late legendary actor Dilip Kumar's mortal remains were laid to rest at Mumbai's Juhu kabristan this evening. The Padma Vibhushan awardee has been laid to rest following COVID-19 protocol in the presence of his close family members. Kumar’s wife Saira Banu was also present at the burial ground where his last rites were being performed.

Kumar, passed away in Mumbai on Wednesday morning after prolonged bouts of illnesses. Dilip Kumar had been admitted to the P.D. Hinduja Hospital on June 30 for a variety of age-related health issues. Around 9.30 a.m., an ambulance carrying Dilip Kumar's body left for his home in Bandra west, with his wife of 55-years Saira Banu Khan accompanying along with some family members.

Just two days ago, Saira Banu Khan had tweeted about his improving medical condition, since her husband had been keeping unwell recently. But that was a short-lived glimmer of hope and he passed away around dawn Wednesday, plunging Bollywood, his billions of fans, followers and admirers around the world into gloom.

The death of the Tragedy King has orphaned his teary-eyed kingdom of fans, followers and admirers, both in India and abroad. The much-revered Kohinoor of Mumbai's film industry has stopped glowing forever.
