Prayagraj (UP): Uttar Pradesh Police and Special Investigation team (SIT) have failed to get specific information even after interrogating disciples Anand Giri and Aadhya Tiwari, in the suspicious suicide of Mahant Narendra Giri.
As per reports, both suspects (two of the three alleged suspects) were questioned for about 20 hours. A charge of abetment to suicide had been lodged against Anand Giri and two others in the First Information Report (FIR) under Section 306. Earlier, the duo who were produced by police in the court were sent to 14-day judicial custody.
In this case, police have so far questioned more than 20 people. The statements of those employed in the Baghambari Gaddi Mutt, including the ones who had brought down the body of Mahant Narendra Giri by cutting the rope were also recorded. Also, a list of all those persons who were in contact with Anand Giri is also being probed.
Police might also interrogate SP and BJP leaders
There are also some high profile leaders on the police radar in this case of suspected suicide. It is learnt that PPS officers posted outside the district, along with ministers and BJP leaders in the SP government, who were close to Mahant Narendra Giri, had taken up the initiative to settle a dispute between the Guru and his disciple. It was only then that an agreement was reached between the Guru and the disciple.
However, despite the settlement, why did Mahant Narendra Giri commit suicide? To find out the answers to these questions, the SIT will also interrogate the high profile people. Police have also questioned the security team of Mahant Narendra Giri in this matter.
Anand Giri removed as Yuva Bharat Sadhu Samaj president
Anand Giri has been removed as president of the Yuva Bharat Sadhu Samaj after his name appeared on the purported suicide note of the deceased seer. Lokeshdas Maharaj, a member of the Yuva Bharat Sadhu Samaj said that the decision to remove Anand Giri was taken after a meeting of the Yuva Bharat Sadhu Samaj.
"Looking at the current state of affairs, we had to take this decision of removing Anand Giri, We can't say who has written the letter, was it written by Narendra Giri? We can't really comment on that. After the result of the investigation, we will automatically know the reason why Anand Giri's name was written in the letter," Maharaj further said.
