Massive fire breaks out at factory in Tarapur

A massive fire has broken out following a series of explosions at a factory in the MIDC industrial area of Tarapur in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Palghar (Maharashtra): A massive fire breakout was followed by a series of explosions at Premier Intermediates Plant No. 56/57 in Baisar Tarapur industrial estate of Tarapur in the wee hours of Wednesday. Four fire brigades rushed to the spot as soon as the incident was reported. Efforts are underway to douse the fire. No casualties have been reported so far in the accident.

Preliminary reports confirmed that the blaze was followed by eight to ten consecutive explosions. The incident created an atmosphere of fear and panic among the locals in the area. The intensity of the fire resulted in a plume of smoke appearing in the distance.

The fire also caused a lot of smoke in the surrounding areas which made it difficult for the locals to breathe. According to sources, the industrial estate had a large stockpile of inflammable materials that might have triggered the explosions. However, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
