Addressing a presser, all India Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee made his intention clear for the upcoming assembly polls in Tripura. He further claimed that the 2024 polls will be ruled by the leader of the state only.

Agartala: Amid protests and minor face-offs between Trinamool supporters and the police, All India Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee made it clear that his party had taken Tripura as an acid test before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

TMC has geared up to project Mamata Banerjee as a national face for the ensuing LS polls and if the party emerges successful in the state, it will only smoothen its way forward. The TMC's promptness for making an entry into Tripura politics soon after the I-PAC team was put on house arrest indicates that the party was just waiting for a chance to score some brownie points.

The visits of top party leaders in the state have made it clear that the TMC does not want to leave any stones unturned to make its presence in the state for the upcoming assembly polls.

Addressing a press conference at a private hotel in Agartala on Monday, Banerjee hinted that the chief ministerial candidate will be from the state only as he said, "Tripura will rule Tripura."

He further said, "BJP has killed democracy in Tripura. The BJP has exposed its model of hooliganism tactics by attacking me. They have tried to make sure that I don't return home on my own feat. The stick and rod welding miscreants launched an unprovoked attack on my convoy which really shows the BJP way of running a state."

"The politics of Trinamool Congress is inclusive. Mamata Banerjee wants equal status for all and so does the party. Here in Tripura, our fight is to establish a pro-people government and for that the TMC will do everything. We are not going to choose the BJP way of bulldozing the opposition using the agencies like ED and IT. We believe in democracy and our fight will be democratic," Banerjee added.

Meanwhile, he also warned Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb saying that his party is ready to face all challenges this time and will not lead leaders from other states to rule Tripura.

Abhishek also claimed that many MLAs of the saffron party are in constant touch with the AITC although his party does not believe in the politics of division. He said, "I will not break anyone's house. By working for the people, the AITC will sit on the throne of power with their faith and love.”

Banerjee announced that by December this year, all the committees will be formed in 3,324 booths across 56 blocks in 8 districts of the state, adding, "A full-fledged state committee will be announced in the next 15 days."
