New Delhi: As the Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa ended weeks of speculations by announcing his resignation, the Congress party opined that a "damage has been done which is beyond control", while expressing confidence that BJP government is not going to come back to power in the state again.

Calling it an "internal matter", Congress Rajya Sabha MP Syed Naseer Hussain said to ETV Bharat, "BJP high command by now has understood that the Karnataka government has not taken off. There has been corruption, instability. If tomorrow, elections would be conducted, BJP is not going to come back. So, they are trying to change the face."

BJP's comeback bid in next elections a pipe dream, says Congress MP

Earlier in the day, Yediyurappa gave a tearful speech at Vidhan Sabha premises, talking about being tested constantly in two years of his fourth term, which possibly could be his last, stating that BJP's age limit for this post is of 75 years. However, the Karnataka Government has continuously being accused of corruption in various matters.

Asserting over the point, Naseer Hussain said, "Just a day before yesterday, a minister was involved in the corruption in the purchase of eggs for the nutrition of small children. Every minister is involved in corruption and that has now come in open. So, I think any party should put their house in order. However, the damage done is beyond any control. Now whatsoever they do, they are not going to come back. People of Karnataka will not pardon them for all the sins they have committed in the past two years."

Meanwhile, the Congress party, on Monday, once again raised the issue of the three contentious farm laws in the Parliament. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi reached the Parliament today on a tractor, along with other MPs of the party, demanding a repeal of these farm laws.

Speaking over the matter, Naseer Hussain said, "This government is autocratic. This government is adamant. They are anti-democratic as they don't want to discuss anything in the Parliament which is the highest debating and discussing forum in the country. These farm laws are illegal, unconstitutional. They are passed in the Parliament without voting. Parliament is for the people, then why are they not opening discussions with the farmers?"

"Let there be wider consultation. Let there be other stakeholders involved and let us come out with new laws," he further asserted.
