New Delhi: Congress party, on Wednesday, slammed the Centre over the suspension of six Trinamool Congress MPs from Rajya Sabha over the 'grossly disorderly' conduct for protesting over the Pegasus row, saying that government is trying to "scare" and "blackmail" the Opposition to suppress their voice in Parliament.

Congress slams Govt on MPs' suspension

While speaking to ETV Bharat, Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain said, "This Government does not want us to speak. They just want that their own business to continue with the passage of bills which are being prepared by their Ministers and officers."

"They just don't want to discuss any issue which is being raised by the Opposition. They are suspending the protesting MPs to scare us, suppress us and blackmail us. But Opposition is standing firm and united on its demands and therefore we will continue our protests in the Parliament," he added.

The TMC MPs were protesting against the Pegasus tow for which they entered into the well of the house, showing placards against the Government.

Asserting the Opposition unity over this matter, the Congress MP said, "Opposition parties are united as we are raising issues which concerns the common people of our country like farm laws, fuel price hike, inflation, Pegasus, Covid-19 mismanagement. We want a proper discussion over all these issues. It is happening after a very long time that so many opposition parties have come together to raise the people's issues on one forum."

"I don't understand what is the problem in this demand? Both Prime Minister and Home Minister are also a part of this Parliament. If they have to give a reply to the Opposition's query then what is wrong with that? Government should give a statement in both the houses. We have just one simple demand that there should be a Supreme Court-monitored probe in this matter. With this behaviour, the government is giving scope for doubts about its involvement in this spooning scandal," Naseer Hussain alleged.
