BJP hails govt's stimulus package; terms it as big relief amid Covid crisis

Speaking to ETV Bharat, BJP National Spokesperson Gopal Krishna Agarwal hailed the government's eight relief measures worth Rs 6.28 lakh crore to help the revival of the economy battered by Covid-19.

New Delhi: Hailing central government for announcing the Rs 6.28 lakh crore stimulus package to boost Covid-affected sectors, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Spokesperson Gopal Krishna Agarwal on Tuesday termed it as a big relief package at the time of Covid-induced crisis. Speaking to ETV Bharat, he said that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced a number of announcements for sectors like tourism, Agro-finance, MSMEs, etc., that can play an important role in boosting the country's economy after the second wave of Covid-19.

"The other announcements that have been that will provide food grains to people and employment under MNREGA. Keeping all these things in mind, this big relief package has been announced. The Production Link Incentive (PLI), has brought great relief in many industrial areas of the country. Under this, Samsung has now shifted its entire manufacturing unit from China and established in Noida," he claimed.

He said that the economic progress report, which came a few days back, is also very encouraging. The data on the mobility of power consumption and transportation have also shown a lot of recoveries. The BJP leader also claimed that the FDI declined by 35 % in the world while in India it increased by 4%.

Agarwal further claimed that figures of GST collection, direct and indirect tax collection are very encouraging whereas the IIP figure is also positive. He said that the government is also running a number of welfare schemes for the poor and committed to reviving the country's economy in the future. It is worth mentioning that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday announced a Rs 1.1 lakh crore loan guarantee scheme for COVID-affected sectors which is bifurcated into two parts, one is Rs 50,000 crore that has been allocated to the health sector and the other one is Rs 60,000 crore for other sectors.
