Georgia's envoy to India Archil Dzuliashvili shared his enthusiasm to work towards the betterment of Indo-Georgia relations.

New Delhi: Not known to many, India-Georgia relationship goes back to ancient times. Many Georgian travellers, missionaries and traders had visited India during the medieval period. No matter how minuscule the bilateral ties look today, both countries have a history together.

After the fall of the Soviet Union, India was among the first countries to recognise Georgia as an independent state. Since then, both countries have taken slow and gradual steps towards strengthening bilateral ties. The Georgian embassy in India got functional in 2009 while India is yet to start its resident mission in Georgia.
