Banning Chinese products will never affect Indian economy: Sudesh Verma

Because of the tensions between India and China escalated, can we afford a trade war against China and by banning trade, can we adversely impact Indian consumers and businesses? Speaking to ETV Bharat, BJP national spokesperson, Sudesh Verma explained briefly about it.

Hyderabad: The clash along the Line of Actual Control on the intervening night of June 15 and June 16 has given rise to a lot of anti-China sentiments across the country and the tensions between India and China escalated.

Following this, several questions are rising and people in India have also started boycotting of Chinese products in various places.

Speaking on the further trade matter, BJP national spokesperson, Sudesh Verma said, "Some may argue that trading with China hurts many Indian producers. This is not true, and it is also true that it will help the more efficient Indian producers and businesses. It is important to note that the list of Indian consumers of Chinese imports does not comprise just those who consume the final finished goods from China; several businesses in India import intermediate goods and raw materials."

"Trade is the part of our economy but India recently emerged as the second-largest electronic gadget manufacturer globally. Indians have called for a boycott on Chinese goods and Indian corporate giants too have ventured into every corner of the world to sell their goods and services," he said.

"India is not an aggressive country and now we are seeing the agitation of our people just because of this violence face-off. We will definitely set up an international boundary line and we will carry out it. We have to make them acceptance about the international norms. China’s claims of “sovereignty” over Galwan Valley are the first since the war of 1962, making the relatively peaceful area of the LAC into a major flashpoint," he added.

Intelligence agencies in India on Friday have red-flagged about 52 China-linked mobile applications, including TikTok, UC Browser, Xender and SHAREit, over concerns related to the safety and privacy of users, according to a media report.

Speaking about border issues, Verma said, "We have a good relation with Tibet since many days. as we can see a lot of people are now staying in Dharamshala. It is our government's responsibility to speak about Tibet and political and administrative matters. No country can claim a piece of land by saying "it is ours". For this, we have to go legally and we are doing so."

"As we have already seen in the past that No single power has ruled over the world. China is not only having border dispute with India but also with Vietnam, Japan and Hong Kong. The single dictatorship never makes own point in the world and we know that what happened to Japan, USSR, Germany, although they were the powerful country. For more than a hundred years there was no dispute between India and Nepal over the border issue but just because of spreading terrorism in India we have a major border dispute issue with Pakistan. But in the case of Nepal, we do not have issues like this. We have a brotherhood relation with China. We are so hopeful that this border issue with Nepal will be definitely resolved and we are also doing the construction in a different way in Nepal," Verma said.
