India is holding the presidency of The G20. The summit in New Delhi is the 18th one in order, and it will be a wrap of all the G20 processes and meetings, which were held throughout the year among ministers, senior officials, and civil societies. As per customs, a G20 Leaders’ Declaration will be adopted at the conclusion of the G20 Summit. It will outline the Leaders’ commitment towards the priorities discussed and agreed upon during the respective ministerial and working group meetings. The Group of Twenty (G20) has 19 countries - Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Türkiye, United Kingdom and United States- and the European Union. Estimates show the G20 members account for around 85% of the global GDP, over 75% of the global trade, and about two-thirds of the world population.

The rare blue supermoon — the closest full moon of the year — dazzled stargazers Wednesday night. Adding to the joy was Saturn joining the celestial spectacle. The planet was visible alongside the moon, at least where skies were clear. It was the second full moon of August, thus the blue label. And it was unusually close to Earth, therefore a supermoon. The moon appeared to be bigger and brighter than usual, given its close proximity to Earth: just 222,043 miles (357,344 kilometers) or so. The Aug. 1 supermoon was more than 100 miles (160 kilometers) farther away.

The cosmos is offering up a double feature in August: a pair of supermoons culminating in a rare blue moon. Catch the first show Tuesday evening as the full moon rises in the southeast, appearing slightly brighter and bigger than normal. That's because it will be closer than usual, just 222,159 miles (357,530 kilometers) away, thus the supermoon label.

With Yamuna levels rising to a record high, several key areas in Delhi were flooded on Thursday. The Yamuna water level touched 208.53 metres at 10 am, breaking a 45-year-old record, officials said. As the Yamuna swelled, Kejriwal announced the closure of schools in inundated areas. The areas including Boat Club, Pandav Nagar, some parts of Gandhi Nagar, Bhajanpura were inundated with floodwaters. According to officials, locals in some areas showed reluctance in moving out even as water reached their homes. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said water supply may be affected in parts of the city with the shutting down of treatment plants at Wazirabad, Chandrawal and Okhla following rising levels of the Yamuna. Visuals of people wading through knee-deep waters and carrying their belongings in low-lying areas were seen.
