The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV is the first electric vehicle from the brand to underpin the Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) in India.

Hyderabad: German automaker Mercedes-Benz has launched the CLA EV in India. This marks the introduction of the first electric vehicle (EV) based on the Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) in the country. It comes in three variants: CLA 200 Standard Range, CLA 250+ Long Range, and CLA 250+ Launch Edition.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV serves as the new entry-level EV, replacing the A-Class Limousine — Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) models —, EQA, and EQB EVs in India. This means that the new EV becomes the new entry point to the German automaker’s lineup in the country. Alongside the EV version of the CLA, globally, it is available in a petrol hybrid powertrain.

Mercedes-Benz CLA EV: Price, rivals
The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV 200 Standard Range Progressive Line is priced at Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom), the CLA 250+ Long Range AMG Line costs Rs 59 lakh (ex-showroom), and the CLA 250+ Long Range Launch Edition is priced at Rs 64 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered in Polar White, Cosmic Black, Clear Blue, MANUFAKTUR Alpine Grey, and MANUFAKTUR Patagonia Red colours.
Bookings of the EV are open, and deliveries are expected to commence soon.

In India, the Mercedes-Benz CLA EV competes against other entry-level luxury EVs like the BYD Seal, Kia EV6, and Tesla Model Y.
The CLA EV 200 is the most accessible model in the lineup, while the CLA 250+ offers a higher driving range and additional styling elements. The Launch Edition include exclusive features like a front passenger screen, illuminated door sills, edition-specific cosmetic elements, and ambient lighting.

Mercedes-Benz CLA EV: Design
The CLA EV wears the signature coupe-like design with a fresh and futuristic look aligned with the German automaker’s EV design philosophy.
It features sleek LED headlamps with a star-shaped DRL, which is connected with a full-width light bar. The front grille is sealed off and sports star-like illuminated elements, making it stand out from Mercedes’ ICE models.
It has a low stance, flowing roofline, and flush door handles, which offer a clean and aerodynamic profile from the side. The EV has LED tail lamps with star-shaped detailing. The rear bumper includes black inserts and subtle chrome accents.
Mercedes-Benz CLA EV: Interior, features and safety
The CLA EV features a clean and minimalist cabin filled with technology. It includes a dual-screen setup consisting of a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The EV also sports a panoramic glass roof, wireless phone charging, powered front seats with heating and massage functions, dual-zone climate control, a 16-speaker Burmester 3D audio system with Dolby Atmos, and more.

In terms of safety, the CLA EV includes six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), electronic parking brake, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a 360–degree camera, and Level 2+ advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Mercedes-Benz CLA EV: Battery, range, specifications
The CLA EV comes in a 58kWh battery pack for the 200 trim and an 85kWh battery pack for the 250+ variant. The CLA EV 200 has a WLTP-claimed range of 542 km and 792 km for the CLA EV 250+. Both variants support 240 kW DC fast charging. Within a 20-minute charge, the CLA EV 200 can run up to 320 km, while the CLA EV 250+ goes up to 400 km.
The CLA EV 200 produces a power output of 224.88 bhp, while the CLA EV 250+ generates 273.21 bhp. Both trims have a torque of 335 Nm and feature a rear-wheel drive (RWD) powertrain.
