MP Honour Killing: Man Arrested For Strangling Daughter, Uncle Remains At Large In Gwalior

Gwalior: Police have arrested a man for the alleged murder of his daughter while his brother remains at large in the honour killing case of Pathariyapura village. The woman was allegedly killed for her affair with a young man from Uttar Pradesh.

The woman, who has been identified as 21-year-old Nandani, was strangled to death. The police have arrested the father, while a search is underway for the uncle who remains absconding after the incident on Monday afternoon.

Deceased Nandani's mother, Suman Yadav, and the accused father, Bhagwan Singh, had been separated for the past eight years. Suman has been living at her parental home in Dholpur.

According to Suman, Nandani had gone to her father's house with her younger sister, but neither returned for a long time. Suman then went to her husband's house to look for them and found both her daughters lying unconscious. She said that both her husband and brother-in-law had fled from the scene after committing the crime.

After receiving information about the incident, personnel from the Pichhore police rushed to the spot and took Nandani and her sister to Dabra Hospital. At the hospital, doctors declared Nandani dead, officials said.

Giving details, Dabra SDOP Saurabh Kumar said that a case of honour killing has come to light in Pathariyapura village. "The deceased, Nandani Yadav, worked in sales in Vijayapura, Karnataka, away from home. There, she met a young man named Jagmohan Singh from Barsana, Uttar Pradesh. Family members have stated that Nandani regarded him as a 'sworn brother' and had brought him home during Raksha Bandhan. Her father and uncle objected to keeping an unknown young man in the house and, fearing social stigma in the village, conspired to kill her."

SDOP Kumar said that the accused father had attempted to hang Nandini and her younger sister. "He had also tried to assault her brother. Based on preliminary information, the police have arrested the accused father. Efforts are also underway to arrest the absconding uncle, Santosh Yadav."
