An Israeli dawn strike on south Lebanon killed seven people including a woman and a child, the Lebanese health ministry said on Monday.

"The Israeli enemy raid at dawn today on the town of Zifta, Nabatieh district, resulted in 7 martyrs, including a Syrian child and a woman, and 8 wounded, including two women," the ministry said in a statement.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz vowed Monday to press Israel's military campaign in Lebanon, despite a warning from Iran that any such action would prompt the Islamic republic to take "severe" measures.

"The IDF will continue to operate in Lebanon against the terrorist organisation Hezbollah," Katz said in a statement, adding that Israel would strike Beirut's Dahiyeh district in retaliation for every attack on north Israel.

Iran announced earlier Monday it was halting its latest attacks against Israel, but added that "should acts of aggression and hostility continue, including in southern Lebanon, much more severe and crushing measures than before will follow."

US President Donald Trump called Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, a White House official told AFP, after the first exchanges of fire between Israel and Iran since an April ceasefire.

Iran fired missiles at Israel overnight and Israel responded by targeting military sites in the Islamic republic, sparking fears of a new full-scale conflict. "Israel and Iran must immediately stop 'shooting'," the US leader wrote earlier Monday on his Truth Social network.

Turkey is pressing ahead with its contacts with both the United States and Iran to end the war while also consulting with countries in the region, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said. “It is essential to leave behind this war that has brought our region and the world to the brink of disaster,” Fidan said during a news conference following meetings in Istanbul with his Azerbaijani and Georgian counterparts.

He added: “Turkey will continue to support diplomacy and dialogue during this critical period.” Turkey, together with Egypt and other regional partners, is backing Pakistan’s initiative to mediate an end to the conflict.

Israeli strikes on Iran Monday wounded at least 15 people, the National Emergency Medical Organization said in a statement published by the Iranian official news agency.

No fatalities have been reported so far, the organization said. The statement did not specify whether the wounded were civilians or military personnel, noting that 14 of the injured were from Mahshahr in the province of Khuzestan, while one was from Tehran.

Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed concern over the recent surge in violence in the Middle East and urged all parties to “exercise restraint.”

In a post on X, Sharif said the latest escalation was “a stark reminder of the dangers associated with a tenuous ceasefire and the unbearable consequences it may lead to.”

Sharif also called for diplomacy over further escalation.

Israeli strikes on Monday killed at least five people, including a child, across Gaza, according to hospital officials. A strike killed two people in Khan Younis in southern Gaza on Monday morning, according to Nasser Hospital, while another left three people dead in Jabaliya in northern Gaza, including Jad Soleiman, an 8-year-old boy, according to Shifa Hospital. Several were also wounded.

Jad’s father, Yusuf, clutched his son’s backpack and kissed his face as the child’s body, wrapped in a white burial shroud, lay before him. “He was coming home from school,” Soleiman said. “I ran to him and found him lying down with his bag still on. It’s covered in his blood. He was wounded and bleeding from the neck. He was taking his last breaths."

Gaza City and Deir al-Balah in central Gaza were also hit. Casualty figures were not immediately available. The Israeli army said it struck some Hamas and Islamic Jihad operatives, adding it would give further details later. The U.S. told Iran there would be no more attacks by Israel if Tehran halted its missile strikes, and that Israel has agreed to halt attacks for now, according to a regional official who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

Israel's military on Monday intercepted three projectiles fired from Lebanon, an AFP correspondent near the border reported, with the military saying the munitions had targeted its forces operating in Lebanon's south.

"Some of the projectiles were intercepted prior to crossing into Israeli territory, and an additional projectile fell near IDF soldiers. No injuries were reported," the military said.

Education Minister Yoav Kisch said in a post on X Monday afternoon that schools would not open on Tuesday. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasised that the country’s foremost priority is national security and the peace of its people. He underscored the twin pillars of diplomacy and defence, saying, "Diplomacy and defence are the two wings of national power; we have neither abandoned the field nor the negotiating table." Iraq's Civil Aviation Authority announced that the country's airspace has reopened after earlier announcing a 72-hour closure in response to the renewed exchange of fire between Israel and Iran.

Iran has announced a halt to its military operations against Israel but warned it will respond with even greater force if Israeli military actions persist, particularly in Lebanon. In a statement carried by Iranian media, Khatam al-Anbiya, Iran's emergency military command, declared, "The cessation of armed forces operations is announced." The statement further cautioned, "However, it is emphasised that if the aggression and acts of malice continue, including in southern Lebanon, much more severe and crushing measures than before will be forthcoming."

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) confirmed a fire incident aboard the oil tanker MT Marivex, which was carrying 24 Indian seafarers south of the Strait of Hormuz. All crew members are currently reported safe. Director Opesh Kumar Sharma from the Shipping Division stated that the fire was reported around 1:30 pm. "This is the preliminary information we have received. Based on available updates, all Indian seafarers are presently safe," Sharma said during an inter-ministerial briefing on recent developments in West Asia.

The ministry is coordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian missions abroad, the Indian Navy, and the Ministry of Defence to ensure the safety of the crew. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they have struck several infrastructure sites at the petrochemical complex in Mahshahr, southwestern Iran. Amid heightened tensions in West Asia and the Gulf region, India on Monday renewed its call for an immediate de-escalation of conflict and emphasised the need for a diplomatic solution to restore peace and stability. In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted that the ongoing conflict, now surpassing 100 days, has caused immense human suffering and significantly impacted the global economy.

The Ministry said, "India deeply regrets the renewed attacks in West Asia. These developments are a matter of utmost concern to the international community. This conflict has now lasted over 100 days and has already caused immense human suffering. It has also had a debilitating impact on the global economy and energy supplies." New Delhi's appeal comes against the backdrop of major military escalations in the past 24 hours, including multi-city kinetic engagements, airstrikes on strategic installations, and heavy projectile salvos across the region.

Iran on Monday reiterated that the release of its frozen assets remains a key issue in peace negotiations with the United States (US) and said Tehran will pursue this demand by all available means, according to ISNA. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei, speaking at a weekly press conference, addressed reports that Washington is seeking to confiscate Iranian assets for the benefit of regional countries and will not release them before reaching an agreement. Baghaei dismissed these reports as "propaganda pressure."

"These claims are part of the ongoing media and propaganda campaign from opposing sides," he said, adding, "This is a baseless assertion, especially considering the debts owed to regional parties for their involvement in the aggression and crimes committed by the US and Israel against Iran." He added, "We will pursue the release of our assets by all means necessary. The matter of Iran’s frozen funds is a key component in the current negotiations, and Iran will not compromise on this demand."

Israel’s military said it targeted truck-based surface-to-air missile launchers in its strikes Monday on Iran. It said Iran had deployed the systems across the country in a bid to restore its capabilities that were degraded earlier in the war.

Oil prices surged as Israel launched airstrikes early Monday targeting central and western Iran in response to missile fire. Brent crude, the international standard, jumped $4.40 to $97.49 a barrel. Benchmark U.S. crude surged $3.95 to $94.49 a barrel.

The latest spate of attacks was straining efforts to end the conflict, as a tentative deal reached last week to extend a ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran has not yet been finalised.

An Iranian official warned Monday that the United States is “responsible for the consequences of any escalation” in the Middle East caused by Israel. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei made the comment in a briefing with journalists on Monday in Tehran, Associated Press reported.

"No one believes that the Israeli regime would take any action without coordination with the United States," Baghaei said. "The United States bears responsibility for the Israeli regime’s aggression, and it will also be responsible for the consequences of any escalation in tensions."

India on Monday reiterated its warning to its nationals in Iran to avoid any travel to the country and exit the region by available means of transport. The advisory comes in view of the latest developments in the region.

"In view of the latest developments in the region, the Embassy reiterates its earlier advice to all Indian Nationals to avoid any travel to Iran," the advisory stated on X. "Indian Nationals presently in Iran are also advised to exit the country by available means of transport," it said.

On Monday, Israel launched airstrikes targeting central and western Iran in response to missile fire from Tehran.

Saudi Civil Defence agency on Monday issued an emergency advisory for its citizens amid fresh escalations in the war between Iran and US-Israel. The Directorate of Saudi Civil Defence, in a post on X, shared a list of instructions for the people in case they receive warning messages.

It asked citizens to immediately proceed to the nearest safe place (inside a building or an interior room away from windows) and stay there until the danger has passed. It also instructed them to stay away from open areas, windows and glass and not stand on balconies or roofs.

"If you are outdoors, enter the nearest building and take shelter behind a solid barrier," the instructions read. The agency asked the people to avoid crowds and refrain from taking photos.

The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) launched Operation Nasr (Victory), striking the Israeli regime's Tel-Nof and Nevatim airbases. In a statement on Monday morning, the IRGC Public Relations Department announced the start of Operation Nasr.

"With trust in God Almighty and seeking help from Him, a few minutes ago, the brave fighters of the IRGC Aerospace Force began Operation Nasr with the sacred code ‘Ya Haidar Karrar’ and as a gift to the martyrs of the 12-day war by targeting important centres of the strategic air bases of Nevatim and Tel-Nof,” the statement said.

“This operation was carried out in response to the child-killing Zionist regime’s missile aggression against several radar sites in three parts of the country,” it said, adding that the speed of action in response to the aggression of the Israeli army and the expansion of the target bank were among the actions of the operating teams at this stage.

The IRGC emphasised that all of its combat and operational units are fully prepared to carry out extensive operations on all fronts and have prepared action plans to respond to the enemy’s scenarios.

Israel's military said on Monday it hit a petrochemical complex in southwestern Iran but did not provide any further details, according to Associated Press. The semiofficial Fars and Mehr news agencies also said Israeli strikes hit a petrochemical factory in the city of Mahshahr in Khuzestan province. It did not elaborate on the damage done.

Israel said it detected a barrage of missiles from Iran toward central and southern Israel on Monday morning. Loud explosions were heard over central Israel, and missiles also targeted southern Israel, near the city of Dimona and Arad. The remote desert city of Dimona houses Israel’s main nuclear research centre, which opened in 1958. Israel is widely believed to possess nuclear weapons, though its leaders neither confirm nor deny this. Israel said Monday that it detected a missile launched from Yemen targeting the country. Sirens sounded across Israel after the Yemen missile fire warning. Yemen is home to the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels. The Houthis have fired missiles at Israel during the Israel-Hamas war and later, but haven’t been fully involved in the Iran war. Later, Israel’s rescue services said there were no reports of casualties or impacts from the launch from Yemen.

Saudi Arabia sounded missile alert sirens Monday morning in an area home to an air base that hosts US forces, the Associated Press reported, citing Saudi state media. The alert was issued around Saudi's Al Kharj governorate, home to Prince Sultan Air Base. It did not elaborate. The alert came after Israel launched strikes targeting Iran.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar directly responded to his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on X, calling him a "crook" as Tehran and Tel Aviv traded missiles, shattering the ceasefire that took place in April.

Late Sunday night, Araghchi posted an image of combined flags of Iran and Lebanon, referring to Iran's support for the country Israel had struck Beirut’s southern suburbs without warning earlier Sunday in defiance of Washington’s request days ago to stand down.

Tagging Araghchi's post, Sa'ar shared an image of combined Iran and Hezbollah flags, and wrote: "Here, I fixed it for you, you crook."

Iranian state TV reported explosions in three cities on Monday, as the Israeli army said its air forces had struck targets in west and central Iran. "Several explosions heard in Tehran, Tabriz and Isfahan," state TV posted on Telegram, according to AFP.

The Israeli military said on Monday it had “attacked military targets” in western and central Iran. "The Israeli Air Force struck military targets belonging to the Iranian terror regime in western and central Iran a short while ago," the Israel Defense Forces said in a post on X.

The strikes come after Iran launched missiles at Israel in the first such bombardment since a fragile ceasefire took effect in early April. Tehran had warned of retaliation after Israel struck Beirut’s southern suburbs without warning earlier Sunday in defiance of Washington’s request days ago to stand down.

Tehran's international airport suspended all incoming flights after Iranian missile strikes on Israel, local media said late Sunday. "The civil aviation authority announced the suspension of all flights bound for the airport until further notice," said Iranian press agency Mehr -- the latest closure for Khomeini International Airport, one of two serving the capital, which had only re-opened in April after being shut for weeks over the Middle East war.

Pakistan’s interior minister, Mohsin Naqvi, was in Tehran on Sunday delivering a message to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei from Pakistan’s army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, according to Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency. There were no details on the message's contents.

Khamenei has not been seen in public since he was named the Islamic Republic’s ruler after his father was killed on Feb. 28 as Israeli and US strikes sparked the war. Pakistani authorities have said Islamabad, with support from regional countries including Qatar, Turkey and Egypt, is working to help bridge differences. In Cairo, the Egyptian and Qatari foreign ministers discussed “proposed elements” of a potential agreement between the U.S. and Iran, the Egyptian foreign ministry said, without details.

And after Iran's missile launches at Israel, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke with counterparts in France, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Britain, Egypt and Turkey as well as Pakistan’s army chief, Iran's state TV said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is currently on the phone with US President Donald Trump, a US official tells Axios, Times of Israel reported. This comes after Trump told Times of Israel that he would be calling Netanyahu to tell him not to retaliate to Iran's missile attacks on northern Israel.

The Prime Minister's Office does not immediately confirm that the call is taking place. Meanwhile, President Trump on Monday said that Iran needs to "get back to the table and make a deal" following the missile attacks on Israel, according to CNN.

"It's certainly not going to help negotiations," Trump told Fox News. "We're very close. I would say an agreement would be signed on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday of this coming week. And now this takes place," he said, quoted by CNN.

"You've shot your missiles, that's enough. Get back to the table and make a deal," he added. Iran launched missiles at Israel on Monday, marking the first Iranian missile attack since the April 8 ceasefire.
