New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday renewed its attack on AAP convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over his 'lavish lifestyle' while citing the 'layout' of his new residence, dubbed as 'Sheesh Mahal 2' at 95 Lodhi Estate. The AAP called the allegations as fake.

Addressing a press conference, Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma termed Kejriwal the 'Rahman Dakait of Delhi' over the AAP chief's new residence. “When the pictures of it came out, we were astonished. The man who said he would live simply today lives in a luxurious manner...," Verma said.

Raising questions over the residence's internal structure and amenities, the BJP leader remarked, "This is the layout of his entire home. It is astonishing to observe just how much thought and effort went into decorating and constructing each individual room."

“Had Kejriwal invested the same amount of intellect and time into addressing Delhi's crumbling infrastructure, pollution issues, and developmental projects, the state of Delhi today would have been vastly different,” he added.

"After he was forced out of Sheesh Mahal by Dhurandhar voters of Delhi, he shifted to Punjab, where he grabbed a bungalow, and now he has prepared Sheesh Mahal 2 at Lodhi Estate”.

Verma said that Kejriwal had built the Sheesh Mahal in Delhi when the national capital was suffering from the COVID wave. “The people of Delhi were demanding COVID medicine and were dying. During that time, work on Delhi's Sheesh Mahal didn't stop for a single day, as per Kejriwal's orders”.

The Delhi Public Works Minister also showed pictures of the Type VII bungalow allotted by the Centre to Kejriwal as chief of AAP. He said the Central Public Works Department does not spend so much money on bungalows and alleged that "private money" was spent to create superior quality amenities in it.

He sought to know from the AAP and Kejriwal how much money was spent on the bungalow and what the source of it was.

AAP leader Atishi said the photographs released by Verma were fake.

In an X post in Hindi, the former chief minister said, "All the pictures released by Parvesh Verma are fake. They are not pictures of Kejriwal ji's house." "To find out whose house is luxurious, (chief minister) Rekha Gupta ji and lieutenant governor sahib should open their own houses, and Kejriwal ji will open his house. The public will decide for itself," she added.
