Hyderabad: Apple has started rolling out iOS 18.5 update, bringing modest improvements and enhancements to the iPhone ahead of the iOS 19 announcement at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025. The new version of the operating system arrives just over a month after the rollout of iOS 18.4. The highlights of the new iOS 18.5 include a new Pride-themed wallpaper and improvements to Mail, Screen Time, Apple TV purchases, satellite connectivity, and more.

How to download iOS 18.5

To install the new iOS 18.5 on your iPhone, make sure your device is connected to Wi-Fi and has sufficient battery. Follow the steps below to complete the stable channel iOS 18.5 update:

1) Open Settings

2) Navigate to General > Software Update

3) Tap Download and Install

What’s new in iOS 18.5?

Improved Mail app navigation:

  • Users can now access the "All Mail" inbox.
  • Easier switching between categorised inboxes and full message list.
  • New three-dot menu enables quick toggling of contact photos directly from the inbox.

New Pride wallpaper:

  • Apple introduces a Pride-themed wallpaper for iPhones.
  • Launches a Pride Edition Watch Band, available for purchase.

Better parental controls:

  • Parents receive notifications when their child's Screen Time passcode is used.
  • Helps prevent unauthorised changes to usage limits.

Apple TV App purchases for third-party TVs:

  • Users can authenticate purchases using the Apple TV app on third-party smart TVs and streaming devices.

Satellite connectivity for iPhone 13 series:

  • Previously limited to iPhone 14 and newer, carrier-provided satellite service is now available for iPhone 13 series
  • Enhances communication in areas with poor network coverage.

The updates and improvements included in the iOS 18.5 aren't big, making this update an incremental one. The upcoming iOS 18.6 update is expected to target Apple Intelligence functionalities in different regions. Meanwhile, the next big update—iOS 19—will be announced at the upcoming WWDC in June. The event is set from June 9 to June 13, but Apple always announces new software at the keynote address on the first day. Just like every year, Apple is expected to first roll out the developer beta build of the new OS, followed by a public beta and then a stable channel rollout.
