Jehanabad: Police have identified the body recovered from a village in Bihar's Jehanabad as a scrap businessman from Maharashtra's Pune. Police suspect the businessman might have been abducted by cyber fraudsters, who later murdered him in the area.
The deceased has been identified as Laxman Sadhu Shinde, a businessman from Pune, Maharashtra, who was involved in the scrap business.
The body was recovered on the morning of Saturday, April 12, near Mananpur village under Ghosi police station area on Bandhuganj Ekangarasrai road in Jehanabad.
The identity of the initially unclaimed body was later revealed during subsequent post-mortem by the police.
Munna Kumar, a resident of Chunakpur village, where the body of the Pune businessman was found, said that they spotted the body on Saturday morning, when they were on way to their farms.
"It seems that he was murdered somewhere else and the body was brought and thrown here. The local police station was informed about this incident. The police reached the spot, took the body in their custody and sent it to Sadar Hospital, Jehanabad for post-mortem," Kumar said.
SDPO Ghosi, Sanjeev Kumar said that a case of kidnapping was also registered in this case at Patna's Airport police station.
SP Arvind Pratap Singh said that Unnatural Death case was registered at Ghosi police station.
“The body was identified the next day. Investigation is underway in the case. Patna, Nalanda and Jehanabad police are investigating the case,” the SP said adding the involvement of cyber criminals cannot be ruled out.
