New Delhi: A British woman was allegedly raped and molested by two men at a hotel in in Delhi's Mahipalpur area, Delhi Police said on Thursday. Police have arrested two people in connection with the incident which occurred on Tuesday and informed the British High Commission about the incident.
According to Delhi police, the woman had traveled from the UK to meet the accused, whom she had befriended through Instagram. The incident came to light after the victim approached the police, who registered a case and arrested both suspects.

Police said that the woman arrived in Delhi and booked a hotel room where she met the man on Tuesday. However, she soon felt that he was attempting to assault her, leading to an argument between them.
The accused then allegedly raped her. The woman managed to escape and reached the hotel's reception, but as she attempted to leave, another man allegedly molested her in the lift.
"A man was arrested on charges of rape with a British woman in a Mahipalpur hotel in Delhi. His accomplice was arrested on charges of molestation. The woman who was friends with the man through social media, had come to Delhi from the UK to meet him. The information about the incident has also been given to the British High Commission," Delhi Police said in a statement shared by ANI.
The incident happened days after an Israeli tourist and a homestay owner were gang-raped in Karnataka's Koppal.
