Kurukshetra: Workers in the paddy fields of Niwarsi village, near Ladwa in the Kurukshetra district of Haryana, were surprised to find silver coins in the soil dumped nearby for road construction.
The soil, according to the workers, was taken from the land of an ancient temple nearby. Rajini, who works in the field, held a silver coin with the year 1905 engraved on it. She said she got three other coins from the soil.
When the news of the recovery of 'treasure' reached the village, many people, including women and children, rushed to the spot in search of their fortune. According to the workers, this has been happening at the spot for the past few days.

11-year-old Puja was among those who came from the village. She happily showed the silver coin she got from digging the soil near the paddy field. She said that many people in the area have found silver coins and have taken them to their homes.
Sulochana, Mamta and Rajni, all from the village, were also successful in their search for the treasure. According to them, many silver coins were found at the spot. People were seen digging in the soil for the silver coins. Though it is not clear to estimate how many coins were found, the villagers claimed that people have already found 2kg of silver.
Following the recovery of the coins, lifting more soil from the temple land has been stopped. Meanwhile, the district administration said that it has no information on the recovery of the silver coins.
Ladwa's Naib Tehsildar Balkar Singh told ETV Bharat over the phone that he has not received any information about any treasure being found. Neither does the Archaeological Department have any information about the incident. However, one of the villagers said that the coins he got were seized by the police.
