In a world where chaos, heartbreak, and burnout have become the new normal, the need to pause has become urgent. You wear burnout as a badge of honour and stress like a prized possession. You are expected to keep going, scrolling, working, and coping while silently carrying the weight of stress, disappointment, and emotional fatigue. But somewhere, many of us are silently asking the same question: how do we heal? Celebrity astrologer and spiritual guide Dr Jai Madaan believes the answer is deceptively simple – "meditation". She says, "It is the medicine your soul craves." In this engaging conversation with ETV Bharat, she opens up about why healing rituals matter, how heartbreak can be transformative, and why astrology is not about prediction but direction.
"Meditation should be treated as a non-negotiable part of our everyday routine, just like we eat, breathe, or brush our teeth," says Dr Madaan. According to her, the human brain takes 40 days to form new neural patterns, and if someone follows the same routine, for instance, sitting cross-legged in silence, the brain begins associating that act with peace and creativity. "Over time, it becomes a natural state, where the brain drops into alpha mode, leading to intuition and calmness," explains the spiritual healer.
Surprisingly, she points out that many people are afraid of meditation because they misunderstand it. "People think it might make them too spiritual or disconnected that they may lose their drive for success. But that's not true. Meditation is like medication. It's healing. You go to the gym for your body, but what do you do for your mind?" She asks and compares meditation as a shower to your soul and believes it's as important as any other form of health care.
Not All Bonds Are Meant To Last
While burnout in the workplace is common, heartbreaks among millennials and Gen Z are common too. However, Dr Manan clarifies that heartbreaks are "most transformative for an individual if only we allow them to be." She uses the tree as a metaphor: it has leaves, branches, which are fleeting and seasonal, but the roots remain. "Only a few are roots, and without them you can't function. If you understand this, it's easier to let go when the time comes," she says. Although letting go often needs more than just logic, as she says, one can't intellectualise their way out of grief. This is where she recommends "crystals".
But isn't that to be consulted with an astrologer before wearing it, since that can have negative effects? We ask. "Do you take permission before dating someone or getting into a relationship? You just have to know if you are attracted enough to a certain crystal," she promptly responds. She advises to learn not to cling to what is meant to leave. If someone is not letting you grow, it's time to let them go. "Growth requires letting go. Imagine if we manifested every person we liked in our teenage years in our life today. We would be living in chaos. It's painful, like childbirth, but it's necessary," she opines.
Astrology Isn't About Prediction
If you are someone struggling with emotional turmoil, Dr Madan suggests green crystals like jade or malachite to place at the centre of the chest or tape it. "It will open your healing heart chakra. She also points out that one of the biggest emotional blocks people face is adapting to dysfunction. "If a switch in your home stops working, you get used to not using it. Similarly, if you are in a toxic relationship or work environment, over time, it becomes normal. That's the most dangerous place to be in," she warns. "Stop glorifying adjustment and compromise. Acceptance is different. It means you may not be able to change the person, but you know you can deal with him. That gives you power," she adds further. She also advocates for astrology.
As psychotherapy and counselling remain taboo in India, astrology, however, finds a place. Many people turn to tarot, energy readings, and other forms of divinatory techniques. She says it's because people need closure, and astrology provides that. "Astrology gives people clarity, perspective, and acceptance. It tells them why something happened, what karmic patterns were at play, and gives them peace. That clarity prevents emotional breakdowns,” she opines.
When we pointed out that it is a mere prediction, Dr Madan clarifies that astrology is a spiritual science that has been misunderstood. "The purpose of astrology is to guide, not to predict. Jyotish means the light of God. Just like a weather forecast helps you prepare for rain, astrology helps you prepare for life's emotional weather," explains the astrologer.
What Your Signature Reveals About You
Talking about integrating numerology and graphology, especially signature analysis into her readings, she says, the signature reveals some of the traits of powerful people. According to her, powerful personalities almost always have signatures that slant upwards, and the first letter is written with prominence. "It shows clarity, ambition, and optimism,” she explains. While astrology gives a cosmic overview and numerology adds numerical influence, she says, "a person’s signature and handwriting give insight into their subconscious patterns, emotional blocks, and even financial tendencies."
As for her own grounding habits, she shares that meditation has played a huge role in her life ever since she was 13. "I even meditated after my wedding ceremony. It is integral to me," reveals the healer. She suggests that the vibration of what you eat and drink enters your bloodstream, your cells, and your mind, so it is important to keep a positive mind. "It's important to charge it with the right intent," she says before signing off.
