Hyderabad: Akshay Kumar's much-anticipated comedy Housefull 5 has hit the ground running at the Indian box office. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the fifth installment in the comedy franchise debuted on Friday, June 7. The film opened to a stunning Rs 24 crore on Friday, which is being widely celebrated as the biggest comedy opener on a non-holiday and the biggest opening day for any film in the Housefull franchise.

The Day 1 figures have proven pre-release expectations wrong by a wide margin."
