ప్రపంచంలోనే ఎత్తైన ఐక్యతా విగ్రహానికి ముళ్ల పొదల అందాలు మరింత వన్నె తెచ్చిపెట్టాయి. ఎటు చూసినా జెముడు మొక్కలు ఏర్పాటు చేసి.. ఈ ప్రదేశానికి మరిన్ని సొబగులు అద్దారు. వీటిని చూసి పర్యటకులు ఆకర్షితులవుతున్నారు.

ఐక్యతా విగ్రహానికి అందాలు అద్దిన ముళ్ల పొదలు! ప్రపంచంలోనే ఎత్తైన సర్దార్ వల్లభ్భాయ్ పటేల్ ఐక్యతా విగ్రహానికి సరికొత్త కళ వచ్చింది. విగ్రహం వద్ద ఏర్పాటు చేసిన కాక్టస్ మొక్కల ఉద్యానవనం సందర్శకులను విశేషంగా ఆకర్షిస్తోంది.
గిర్ ఫౌండేషన్ చొరవతో నర్మదా నది ఒడ్డున కాక్టస్ పార్క్‌ను 836 చదరపు మీటర్ల విస్తీర్ణంలో ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. వివిధ ఆకారాల్లో, పరిమాణాల్లో ఉన్న జెముడు జాతి మొక్కలు.. వీక్షకులను కట్టిపడేస్తున్నాయి.
ఈ మొక్క ఎలాంటి వాతావరణ పరిస్థితులనైనా తట్టుకుని బతకగలదు. సహజంగా పొడిబారిన నేలలో పెరిగే ఈ మొక్కలు... ప్రపంచంలో అత్యంత ఎడారి ప్రాంతమైన అటకామాలో విరివిగా లభిస్తాయి. ఐక్యతా విగ్రహం వద్ద పూల ఉద్యానవనానికి ఎదురుగా ఉన్న ఈ పార్కులో ప్రస్తుతం 400కు పైగా కాక్టస్ జాతి మొక్కలు పెరుగుతున్నాయి. ఈ ఐక్యతా విగ్రహం ప్రపంచంలోనే ఎత్తైన విగ్రహంగా పేరుగాంచి.. దేశ ఖ్యాతిని ప్రపంచానికి చాటింది. సర్దార్ పటేల్ స్మారకార్థంగా ఎన్డీఏ ప్రభుత్వం ఈ విగ్రహాన్ని నిర్మించింది. అంతటి మహోన్నతమైన ప్రదేశాన్ని మరింత ఆకర్షణీయంగా మార్చేసిందీ కాక్టస్ గార్డెన్.

STORYLINE:
A couple and their baby narrowly escaped injury after a speeding car headed directly for them was accidentally knocked out of its path by another driver seconds before it would have slammed into the family, a video showed.
Traffic video released Wednesday by Phoenix police shows a car driven by Shannon Vivar making a right turn and unintentionally hitting the speeding vehicle out of the family's way as they crossed the street. Vivar's mother, Shirley, and her 3-year-old son were in the car with her.
"I yelled, 'Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, Shannon!' And then we collided," Shirley Vivar said. "It was the wrong time at the wrong place, but then the right time at the right place. We're all blessed that we're all alive."
The couple and their child, who were headed for a grocery store after getting off a bus, weren't hurt.
Vivar suffered minor injuries in the crash.
"I kind of think it was meant to happen," Vivar, 27, said at a news conference Thursday.
Police said Ernesto Otanez Oveso, 28, was driving impaired when he ran that red light in the late-night hours of October 14 and then drove off after the crash with Vivar's vehicle.
Police say he later pulled a knife on another driver who witnessed the crash and followed Oveso from the scene.
Police said Oveso remains jailed on suspicion of leaving the scene of a collision and aggravated assault along with a weapons violation, a felony warrant in a probation violation and three misdemeanor warrants.
A handgun was later found in Oveso's vehicle and he's prohibited from possessing a firearm, according to police, who didn't immediately know if Oveso had a lawyer yet.
